I don’t know if you missed me but I sure missed you!!
Things got totally out of control around here!
We’ve had crappy, stormy weather on and off for weeks (trying to get in our summer rainy season) and seems like no matter what time I cook I can’t beat the weather to get good lighting and pictures. I had several recipe failures in a row that really bummed me out. I’ve been dealing with serious bouts of insomnia, mostly from not being able to cool off at night. I’ve been a walking zombie for weeks and it’s been so hot and uncomfortable I’ve hardly felt like eating, much less cooking the past week or so. Turns out the A/C was only limping along and was in need of some serious and unfortunately, pricey TLC. Unexpected company dropped by…my long, lost, kinda-sorta, “adopted” daughter showed up on my doorstep last week for the first time in at least two years. But she wasn’t alone, she had her new baby daughter in tow. That was a total shocker! Sadly she’s disappeared again, with my kinda-sorta granddaughter that I was really hoping to spend some time with. ~sigh~ And now Sub-Tropical Storm Beryl is messing with our holiday weekend weather. Even though he’s pretty well north we are under cloud cover (again) with the occasional rain band and he’s sucking hot air straight out of the south. If you walk outside and face south it’s just like standing in front of a fan blowing hot air in your face at about 10 miles per hour. So, I’m staying inside and comfortable with my newly repaired and cold blasting A/C getting caught up on the blogosphere and what you all have been up to. I’ve got a few things to post and should be back in the groove in the next day or so.
Hope you all have a great weekend and “see” you soon!

Ugh, I’m sorry to hear about all of this!! I was wondering where you were!! And sleepless nights from heat? UGH! And hope you got to see the baby at least for a bit!
We’ve missed you! I think some of that rain is headed our way (we’re getting 5 inch hail around these parts). Hope the skies clear and good food awaits!
Hey, I missed you. Can surely understand how the weather just “gets” to you. We pretty much had non-stop rain for weeks but it was the chilly mugginess that feels like an elephant standing on your sinuses. Did get a break out of a few days of sun & bam, back to clouds. As for the A/C, when we built our house here I distinctly remember the builder saying “are you sure you don’t want us to at least plumb for future A/C while the walls are open?” And some damn fool said “nah, we don’t get more than a few days that are bad…” And for the past 20 years we’ve had the muggiest, hottest, August’s on record. Why didn’t that idiot (me) just say “sure, sounds like a great idea?” Oh well. And for that weather you’re now getting – my daughter just flew out of Orlando missing that recent storm by a few hours.
As much as I hate the heat here I have definitely gotten used to the amount of sunshine. I could NEVER live in the Pacific North West (although I think it’s incredibly beautiful!). I’d eventually end of offing myself from all the dreary dampness. As for not plumbing the A/C…you silly girl!!
No kidding (about Pacific NW) – I’ve visited & it is beautiful but definitely a place where you’d have to be on anti-D’s. You think that’s why they drink so much coffee?
As for the A/C, about 4 others on our street said the same thing but at least they’ve gone ahead & added A/C in the upstairs bedrooms. We could do that since it’s a big walk-up attic but $$$$$ and I need to let my husband mellow out and adjust to what the bills will be on the kitchen re-do. Every year he hauls up this big azz A/C window unit for the kitchen. You think it was for me so I’d be comfortable cooking? Nah, he bought it cause the dog was too hot in the summer
Oh, I’m so glad you’re back, but I definitely understand the need some times to take a break. I hope you have a restful and “cool” week ahead. Take care!! :0)
Thanks, Juliet!
Was wondering where you were! Glad you are getting it all under control there…we are also getting the wind here in Atlanta, but it has been welcome since we did not reach the LOW 90′s like expected..yikes! Stay cool.
Hang on to your hat sister! I think we’re going to have a wicked season this year. The ocean never had a chance to cool down with the mild winter we had last year and we haven’t even started the official season yet and have had two named storms. And HOTlanta is just as bad if not worse than our weather when it comes to heat and humidity! At least I get an ocean breeze some of the time! Gotta love the inventor of air conditioning. If it wasn’t for him I’d be living in Antarctica!
Glad you’re back! Hope things are less crazy now for you.
Yes, “less crazy”…exactly the way I like it, lol!
Thanks Sarah!
So glad you are back in the swing of things. A/C issues (or any house issues) are so painful to pay for, but are worth it in the long run! Hang in there. Welcome back and may your recipes turn out and your photos be clear and bright!
